Mr. Claus 2022

In the 80’s the Care Bear craze was at its height. A major toy company with organized crime connections designed a competing product called The Average Joes. They were roughly bear-formed with a nice beer belly and a shock of hair. They came in earth-tone colors as opposed to the bright colors of the Care Bears. Instead of rainbows and hearts each Average Joe could be purchased with ketchup, beer or grass stains. The company tried to get tie-ins to beer companies but none of them wanted their name on the product.
The Average Joes didn’t ever make it past the prototype stage. They were boxed up and left in a warehouse in Southern California. As early as the 10’s they started showing up on the dark web advertising services that were beyond the normal bounds of legality. How they made it from prototypes in a warehouse to minor criminal figures in the supernatural world is the stuff of lore.
The Joes, as they called themselves, had stayed in California and had a healthy presence in the sale of recreational cannabis up until it became legalized for recreational use about five years ago. According to rumors they had expanded into cyber crime.
The leader of the Bay Area chapter of the Average Joes is Don Julio, who is an amber colored Joe with a silver belly with a large carne asada stain. His two lieutenants are Paloma and Goldie. They are part of a new generation that have developed livelier colors through one night stands with Care Bears- or at least that’s the story.
At any rate Paloma is pink colored with a green belly and no apparent stain. Goldie, whose real name is Gold White, is accurately named as she has pale yellow fur and a tan belly that are uncannily like the fruit and seed colors for an Oro Blanco grapefruit. They are always seen together and despite their lively appearances are feared in the supernatural community.
