“I think we got some company Paloma,” said Goldie.
They were sitting in a run-down Toyota pickup from the 80’s that had been owned by a surfer and still had the boards in the back. They too saw Rufus carrying boxes to a brand new car that cost way more than they thought he should be earning unless he was moonlighting.
“That crappy blue Prius over there?” asked Goldie.
“Yeah, a human and an elf.”
“An elf. That’s abnormal,” said Goldie.
“What about Rufus getting into that Mercedes?” asked Paloma.
Goldie answered, “I haven’t seen that before. And it doesn’t fit. Rainbow White Bread is making shipments for us. He couldn’t even afford to get that car detailed.”
“And he’s carrying a whole bunch of boxes.”
“Indeed he is. Let’s see where our favorite pony freak is headed,” said Paloma as she started the Toyota.
“I know it’s the holiday season and all but an elf in Berkeley. We’re too far south for that,” said Goldie.
“This is getting interesting,” said Paloma.
“Very interesting- I’ve never kicked an elf’s ass before,” said Goldie with a smile.
“Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that,” said Paloma.
Goldie just laughed.
