“So you lost him?” asked Don Julio.
Paloma and Goldie knew that any excuse with Don Julio was a bad excuse.
“We lost him but learned something important. We definitely had company. We were following a Prius, which was tailing Rainbow White Bread,” said Goldie.
“But you lost him?”
“Yes, we lost him but we think we should be able to find him again,” said Paloma.
“How’s that?” asked Don Julio.
“Well, we passed the Prius and didn’t get a great look at who was inside,” said Paloma.
“We didn’t see a damn thing after you stomped on it,” said Goldie.
“I didn’t notice it at the time but if I concentrate I can get a better picture of who was inside,” said Paloma.
“And?” asked Don Julio impatiently.
“It didn’t fit really so I guess it didn’t register at first. But I’m pretty sure the passenger was an elf,” said Paloma.
“In Berkeley?” asked Goldie.
“Why not? We’re here so it’s not much of a stretch that there is an elf or two,” said Don Julio.
“I guess so, but we haven’t run into any,” said Paloma.
“Until now,” said Don Julio.
“We just need to find Santa’s workshop,” said Goldie with a heavy dose of sarcasm.
“Funny you should mention that,” said Don Julio and smiled.
